Sting, whose real name is Gordon Sumner, is a British musician, singer-songwriter and actor. He was born on October 2, 1951 in Wallsend, Northumberland, England. Sting first came to fame as the bass guitarist and lead singer of the rock band The Police, which was very successful in the late 1970s and early 1980s.

After the breakup of The Police in 1984, Sting embarked on a solo career. His music spans a wide range of genres, including rock, pop, jazz and reggae. Some of his best-known solo songs include "If You Love Somebody Set Them Free", "Fields of Gold", "Englishman in New York" and "Shape of My Heart".

Sting has won several awards, including multiple Grammy Awards, Brit Awards and a Golden Globe. He is known for his characteristic voice, ability to embrace different music styles and his profound lyrics.
